Cosmo Branding

What is Cosmo Branding?

Cosmo Branding & Marketing is a consulting team that specializes in creative branding and marketing. By “creative branding and marketing” we specialize in idea and concept development, art/design direction, strategic planning, resource connections, and project management. Our mission is to assist clients in ways that grow and promote their brand in the marketplace. In regards to the brand design, we handle all of the vision to visual transformation i.e color theory, palette selections (color, font, stock photo, inspirational imagery, etc.), identifying the visual brand needs across mediums, etc. All of this helps us build necessary print and digital collateral. For the promotional stages we discuss guerilla marketing tactics, community engagement, advertising channels, planning marketing campaigns, etc.

We love meeting with clients and translating their vision into visual forms that can be promotionally planned and organized in order for them to increase their brand equity and credibility in their industry and the marketplace. We become part of your team when we work with your business.

What was your experience in the Build class?

We originally took the Build class for epistemology-oriented teahouse. Through the visual curation and promotion of The Dissertation Detroit (our LLC at the time), people saw our brand and started asking us to help them with their needs. We used some of the materials we learned from our Build class like the legal, accounting and marketing structure to innovate into something else to formulate Cosmo. The interactive aspects of the class and the case studies are what we found really productive. The network has been really supportive too. It helped a lot being around other entrepreneurs that may have had complementary mindsets or experienced similar problems.

What are your recent developments?

We have been working with more new clients recently. We started with Entrepreneur Works and Lifeline Business Consulting as our first real clients. Now we are working with Prosperus Detroit as their technical service provider which allows us to assist smaller start-ups and “mom and pop” shops. We are also currently working with a few larger companies as well.

We are also in the process of scouting and securing new clients that are committed and serious about growing their business so if you’re reading this feel free to reach out for a consultation!

To the BUILD Institute Community,

On behalf of the BUILD Institute Board of Directors, we want to share that the Board has made the decision to pause operations at the end of 2025.

We recognize that we are living in a time of great uncertainty for small business support organizations across Michigan. This moment offers us an opportunity to reassess how BUILD delivers on its mission, retool our programming, and evaluate new partnership opportunities and our overall business model to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

In the coming months, we will continue all scheduled programming through December to ensure that all commitments to entrepreneurs and partners are honored. During this time, we will also explore new ways to align our work with the evolving needs of our community, including our network of over 3,000 alums.

Please join us in showing appreciation for the team members and facilitators who have served Detroit’s entrepreneurs and supported BUILD’s mission since our founding in 2012.

If you have any questions about this decision or what it means in the near term, please email us at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of BUILD’s legacy of inclusive entrepreneurship.

With gratitude,
The BUILD Institute Board of Directors
